Carolyn Eloise Coleman Mathews

d. December 30, 2020

Carolyn Eloise Coleman Mathews 84, of Bedford, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. She was born on February 22, 1936 to the late Roy Clyde Coleman and Eloise Wiley Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Mathews, Jr.

She enjoyed working puzzles, feeding, and watching “her” birds, watching her favorite show “The Virginian” with her favorite actor James Drury and visits from family and friends. Her favorite color was pink. Any and all shades. That’s one of the first things she’d tell you along with how much she loved her home. It meant so much to her because her husband had built it with his own two hands for them.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Deborah Pitts (Steve), Kim Jackson (Wayne), Robert Mathews, Lori Overstreet (Allen) and Tina Stanley (Dennis); grandchildren, Corey, Kelly, Angela, Robert, Matt, Scott, Samantha, Brittany, Chris, Taylor, and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Alex, Waylon, Gaige, Brynleigh, Colton, Caselynn, Emily, Fletcher, William, Katie and Charlie; brothers, Richard Coleman and Roy Coleman; special friends, Taylor and Julie Finch and Glenda Eckart and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes Children Research Hospital in Carolyn’s memory.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Ross Gilfillen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. To watch the service virtually please visit obituaries.tharpfuneralhome.com.
