Carolyn Louise Jones

On Friday, September 17, 2021, Carolyn Louise Jones departed this life at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born January 30, 1954, a daughter of the late Jessie Walker James and the late Rosa Jones James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Cory Lee James, her daughter-in-law Ashley Jones and her sister Laura Smalls.
She is survived by her son, Quincy Jones, stepson Cory Scott (Keisha), her sister Brenda Thornhill (Murrell III “Butch”) of Lynchburg, her brothers Milton James, Timothy James (Brenda) of Rustburg and Dennis James of Lynchburg, aunts Pearline Monroe and Lois Jones of Rustburg and her longtime friend Mr. Clyde Jones Jr., of Rustburg along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Carolyn was a 1972 graduate of Rustburg High School. She later retired from Hudgins Plating Co. after 30+ years of service and was last employed by Sodexo. Carolyn was a devoted and active member of New Free Spring Baptist Church where she served as President of the Usher Ministry.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 12 p.m. at New Free Spring Baptist Church.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
