Carolyn Craig Terrell, 91 of Lynchburg passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Westminster Canterbury.
She was born on April 5th, 1934, in Roanoke VA, to the late Herman Lee Craig and Kathleen Crist Ferebee. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Prescott Carter Terrell.
Carolyn had an entrepreneurial spirit. She was an avid knitter and owned the Knit Wit Shop in Pittman Plaza and Charlottesville, VA with her business partner, Nona A. Waller.
She also had a love for books and owned and operated The Bookstore in Pittman Plaza.
Carolyn was an exceptional cook and loved entertaining with her friends. She took great pleasure in knitting caps for children and for her friends. Her love of books carried her through to the end.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen D. Terrell and her husband, David Spangler, of Goode VA, and son Prescott C. Terrell, Jr. and wife Sonia, of Lynchburg; four grandchildren: Prescott C. Terrell III and his wife Emmie, Branson L. Terrell and his wife Kendall, William A. Terrell, and Ann Claire Terrell McClintock and her husband Collins, step grandchildren Andrew and Paige Lee, and Wesley and Gabriella Spangler. Great grandchildren, Scotty Terrell and Lanier Terrell. Sister-in-law, Katherine T. Reedy, of Atlanta GA.; two half-sisters in law, Claudia Terrell Hamblen, of Washington DC & Emmy Lou Terrell Anderson, of Durham NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 9th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Ron Cox officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private graveside service will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge and give heartfelt thanks to Carolyn’s wonderful caregivers at Westminster Canterbury. They kept her spirits lifted and always encouraged her during her time there. They also want to thank her longtime devoted friend, Linda Orange.
