Carroll Reeves

On Thursday, September 28, 2023, the Lord saw fit to call his son, Carroll Reeves, from labor to reward. Carroll departed this life at The Carriage Hill Nursing facility in Bedford Va. He was born on December 31, 1925, to the late David & Julia Reeves. 

Carroll was educated in Lynchburg City Schools and left for the U.S. Air Force afterwards where he served for over 20 years and advanced to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He often told stories of his experiences in the Air Force, especially during WWII.

Carroll was a compassionate friend and loved to cook for all who would eat, especially chitterlings. When he was not driving, he was cooking.

He was a devoted member of Christ Temple Bibleway Church for over 25 years. While in attendance, he served as a faithful usher and choir member.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters: Gertrude Reeves, Mary Brown, Edith Reeves, Julia Chambers, Anna Belle Clayton, & Corrie Dickerson; and four brothers: James Reeves, Jasper Reeves, David Reeves & Jim Reeves.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Michael Reeves, one brother, Garfield Reeves, a devoted niece, Mary R. Langford, and a host of other relatives and friends.

 A celebration of Carroll’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, 220 Breezewood Drive.

The family wishes to acknowledge the many expressions of love, kindness, and concern shown not only during this time of bereavement but also throughout the past few years. A special thank you to The Carriage Hill Nursing facility and staff and to those who took time out to make sure Min. Mary Langford had the help needed to facilitate Carroll’s care.
