Cassandra Lee Zurlippe, 74, of Madison Heights, Va. departed this life on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
She was born on April 10, 1943, in Lynchburg, Va. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Clemens Zurlippe. She is the daughter of Gretel Doswell and the late Edgar Doswell. Also preceding her in death are her two brothers, Edgar Doswell, Jr. and Frederick Doswell. She is survived by her two sons, Jack Morris, III (Toni) and Jeffrey Morris (Valarie), both of Madison Heights, Va. She leaves to cherish her memory seven grandchildren: Andre Morris, Marcus Morris, Christopher Morris, Cameron Morris, Vincent Morris, Matthu Morris, Kristen Zurlippe; three devoted cousins, Samuel Thomas, Jr., Howard Scott, and Dwayne Glover; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Cassandra was a devoted member of Tree of Life Church in Lynchburg, Va. In 1976, she preached her first sermon. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1961and was a graduate of Phillips Business College. She worked for various local companies including GE Financial where she worked as a case manager, J. Crew as a telemarketer, as well as holding various positions within the US Postal Service. She also served as a member of the Lynchburg City School Board.
She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members including her mother, deceased father, and two brothers. She was truly loved and will be missed by many. The Family wishes to thank everyone for their kind expressions of sympathy, prayers, and acts of kindness extended during their time of bereavement.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at her son’s home, 124 Lynwood Dr. Madison Heights, VA.
A Celebration of Cassandra’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
