Catherine "Cac" "Cathy" Genovesi Halliday

Catherine “Cac” “Cathy” Mary Genovesi Halliday, 93, of Campbell County, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on May 1, 2018.

Born on September 3, 1924, in Florence, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Curran Genovesi and Emilio N. Genovesi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Halliday; an infant son, John Emilio; three brothers, Thomas, Charles and Harry Genovesi; one sister Agnes Terenzini. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Boyko.

She is also survived by her daughters, Judy Halliday and Jean Langlois (Vincent); a son John Halliday (Rose); six grandchildren; Jeremy Langlois (Courtney), Katherine Faraci (Steve), Sarah Luther (Steve), Joseph Langlois (Miranda), Mary Cottrill (Jason) and Jessica Brim; nine great-grandchildren, Madison Luther, Lilli Goodwin, Austin Luther, Emma Luther, Matthew Faraci, George Faraci, Jocelyn Cottrill, Michael Langlois and Adalyn Brim; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Catherine was known for her sarcastic “Yankee wit.” In her younger years, she loved to play cards and games with her family and friends. She was a long-time cashier at A&P and Grand Union Stores in Vermont. She was generous to all and a faithful companion to her special daughter Judy. As a non-driver, Catherine was always ready to take a ride. We are thankful that she has completed her journey on Earth and that she is in the arms of our Lord rejoicing with all her loved ones that arrived before her.

A burial Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10 a.m. with Monsignor Michael McCarron officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the angels on earth who work for Centra Hospice.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
