“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
Psalm 116:15
Catherine Crews Tuggle, 80, of Rustburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Liberty Ridge Health and Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Bobby Lee Tuggle.
Catherine was born on August 20, 1937 in Charlotte County, Va., a daughter of the late Charles Edward Crews and the late Gracie William Crews.
Catherine graduated in 1957 from William Campbell High School and from there she attended Central Virginia Community College. She retired from Bassett-Walker and later went on to fulfill her life-long dream as a pre-school teacher at Clearview Baptist Early Learning Center. There was never a child she met that she didn’t love and, much like the Lord, her passion in life was teaching little children about the Lord Jesus Christ.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Barbara Tuggle McGraw and her husband, Brian, of Rustburg; two sisters, Elvira Brizendine of Richmond and Arlene Moore and her husband, David, of Forest; her nieces: Joan Moore, Lisa King, Katina Sheppard, Amanda Steptoe, and Cristy Bomar; her nephews Chuck King, Lee Ashby, and Brant Moore; several great nieces and nephews; many relatives and friends, including a special friend, Peggy Lankford of Evington; and her “grand-dogs” Pippa, Bella, and her beloved Zoe. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her niece Betty Ann Hamlett; and two brothers-in-law Thornton King and James Brizendine.
A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors J.D. Critcher and Jeff Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
