Catherine June Powell, 66, of Forest, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was the loving wife of George Washington Powell for 36 years.
Catherine was born Wednesday, January 17, 1951 in Lynchburg, VA. She was retired from Flowserve and Limitorque where she worked for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Christopher Todd Cordle; daughter-in-law, Alyson Cordle ; adoptive mother, Deloris Moon; brother, Berry Lewis Walden, Jr.; sister, Margaret Ann Walden Hall; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Chelsea Ann Cordle, Christin Elisabeth Cordle, Christopher Todd Cordle, II, Ashley and Treyvor Foutz and their son, Gryffin, Andrea Cox, Joey Powell and his children, Joseph, Kayle, Gavin and Chance.
She was preceded in death by her birth parents, Raymond Gray Walden and Pauline Frances Walden; adoptive father, Dr. James E. Moon; brothers, Roy Lee Walden and Scott Moon.
A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Lynchburg on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 6 p.m. with Rev. David Heerspink officiating.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
