Catherine Martin Wright (Cathy), 57, of 676 Country Road, Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born Sept 20, 1958 in Lynchburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Richard Martin; her doting step-father, Bill Conner; her beloved nephew, Ben Wright; other special family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 39 years, Tony Wright of Lynchburg; their daughter, Megan Hall (Mark) of Elon; their son, Keith Wright (Carmen) of Forest; two precious grandsons, Mark and Matthew Hall; her beloved mother, Catherine Conner of Elon; devoted brother, Barry Martin of Lynchburg. She is also survived by a host of wonderful friends and family who supported her unconditionally during her life and recent illness.
Cathy graduated from Jefferson Forest High School in 1976, and soon married the love of her life, Tony. She was employed at the family’s dry cleaning business, Betty Brite Timberlake and Park Avenue Cleaners, for nearly 40 years where she enjoyed serving, and chatting with, her beloved customers every week. Cathy was also the “manager” of her husband and good friend Lisa Vogel’s band, Kinfolk, and enjoyed hearing them play very much. Anybody who knew Cathy knows how much she loved her family and friends. She truly never met a stranger. She was such a sweetheart and will be missed by so many people. Everyone takes comfort in knowing that she was a woman of great faith and is present with her Lord today.
The family will receive friends today, Sunday, September 20, 2015, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held Monday, September, 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home. Interment will follow at New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
