Cecil Hankins Keeling

Cecil Hankins Keeling, 92, of Lynchburg passed away Sunday morning October 6, 2013. He was the husband of Barbara Tucker Keeling for 57 years.

 Cecil was born October 10, 1920 in Keysville, a son of the late Frederick Milton Keeling and Gabrielle King Keeling. He was one of 10 children. He graduated from E.C. Glass High School in June 1940 and was immediately hired by Armour & Company as a bookkeeper for their Charleston, West Virginia office and worked there until he was drafted into the U.S. Army on August 29, 1942.

He was transferred to the U.S. Army Air Force, Air Transport Command, Ferry Department where he served as a mechanic for medium, heavy and very heavy bombardment aircraft. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant on February 7, 1946.

He entered Lynchburg College in June, 1946 and graduated in June, 1949, whereby, he was hired by an automobile dealer in Charlottesville as an office manager.

He worked for numerous dealers in the Charlottesville, Albemarle area for approximately forty years before returning to Lynchburg where he retired at the end of 1992.

 In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters: Pamela Feiganbaum and husband Joel of Kansas City, KS, and Barbara Anne Andrieu and husband Brian of Lynchburg, two sons: Jeffrey Michael Keeling and wife Deborah and Blair Alan Keeling both of Lynchburg, and five grandchildren: Jeffrey, Daniel, Katie, Michael and Hunter.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.

 The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday October 9, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

 A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday October 10, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel Lynchburg with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors to be performed by American Legion Post #16.

 Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude\"™s Children\"™s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
