Chad Edward Bowyer, 48, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Chad was a graduate of Heritage High School where he was a state champion swimmer and was voted Class Clown his senior year. After graduating high school, he began his employment with Framatome in 1994, and was a continuous employee for 27 years. During that span, he was able to complete the college program and obtain his associates degree from CVCC. He was the most qualified plugging lead, the “Slimplugga” as he liked to be referred.
He was an avid Penn State fan (“We Are…!”), who not only followed them during the season, but loved keeping up to date with recruiting on his favorite website, Rivals.com. He recently developed a passion for hockey and was becoming the model hockey dad, even taking an affinity to the Boston Bruins. Hunting and fishing were hobbies that he had when he was younger, and often spent that time with his father and close friend, Dale Rayle. In recent years, he had gotten back into playing golf and loved spending his Fridays with his Framatome family on the course, even if he needed to take a quick dip in one of the lakes. Of all of his pastimes, his favorite was attending his children’s sporting events: baseball, swimming, marching band, gymnastics, cheerleading, volleyball, and hockey. Chad went above and beyond to learn the sport so much so that he would critique, coach, and compliment when he felt his input was needed, which was always.
His love for his family was not confined only to the immediate members, as he often spent time with his nieces and nephews and wasn’t afraid to get on the floor and play. He was an excellent Chutes and Ladders player, and never would “let” you win, even if you were only 5 years old.
He loved to take his family to North Myrtle Beach every year and was proud to be able to take his parents along and appreciate the memories that were created. His happy place for the entirety of his life was beside the ocean, looking for seashells and sharks-teeth with the people he loved most.
He is survived by his loving wife- Amanda Bowyer; children- Kieran Bowyer, Isabella (Izzy) Bowyer, Samson Bowyer, and Stella Bowyer; parents- Gordon and Chloe Anne Bowyer; brother- Gordon Bowyer Jr. (Cyndi); sisters- Kathy Spector and Amy Jonas; nieces and nephews Joshua Bowyer, Marissa Williams (Xander), Caleb Bowyer, Logan Spector, Jasmine Jonas, and Micaella Jonas.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with pastor Jonathon Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Nicopolis United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bedford County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
