Charles Wesley Calhoun, 89, of Lynchburg, Va. passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024. He was the husband of the late Erma Louise Zook Calhoun.
Charles was born June 19, 1934, in Washington D.C., a son of the late Aubrey Simpson Calhoun and Eliza Vaughan Calhoun. Charles honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, was retired as an electrical engineer with Ellerbe Becket, and was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, Va. Charles was a very outgoing and caring man, a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, son, and friend. He never met a stranger, showing his genuine interest and affection for all those he met.
He is survived by his son Philip C. Calhoun of Crofton, Md, his daughter Lisa J. Calhoun of Silver Spring, MD, one granddaughter Skylar-Anne R. Calhoun of Crofton, Md, one brother Thomas Edward Calhoun of Culpeper, Va, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was proceeded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, Va. from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024.
A Celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Va with the Rev. Amy Beth Coleman officiating. Inurnment will be held privately at Virginia Memorial Park.
