Charles E. Wiley, 87, of Lynchburg died Wednesday, August 29, 2018, a son of the late William Edward Wiley and Mary Eades Wiley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Hilda Furst.
Charles was born on February 22, 1931. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and traveling; especially on the Blue Ridge Parkway whether traveling to Blowing Rock, N.C. or a meal at Mabry Mill. Charles was always ready to extend himself to others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Phyllis Wiley, his daughter Terra L. Wiley of Roanoke, his son Vincent C. Wiley of Roanoke (wife Gina) and his adoring grandchildren, Zachary V. Wiley (wife Gabrielle) of Raleigh, N.C, Hannah G. Wiley and Rebekah F. Wiley both of Roanoke.
Visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Beulah Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va., where Charles was a member for 60 years. Interment will follow the service at Sedalia Baptist Church in Big Island, Va.
