Charles Ellsworth Johnson, Sr., 89, of Lynchburg, died Monday, September 11, 2017. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Hamilton Johnson for 62 years.
Charles was born February 12, 1928 in Rochester, New Hampshire, a son of the late Clarence Ellsworth Johnson and Josephine Gosselin Johnson, and his step-mother Eva Johnson. Charles honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a member of the Moose Lodge #715 and Shiloh United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Charles Johnson, Jr., (Joanne) of Lynchburg, Karen Lawson of Lynchburg, Dawna Lewis (Randy) of Omaha, Neb., Paula Kohrt (Dan) of Omaha, Neb., and Aaron Johnson (Cathy) of Charleston, W.Va.; grandchildren, Courtney Harrington (Dave) of Rensselaer, N.Y., Jeremiah Johnson (Kate) of Lynchburg, Jessica Lewis and Jaimie Villareal (Art), both of Omaha, Neb., Micah Kohrt and Mariah Kohrt, both of Omaha, Neb., and Bryce Johnson and Bailey Johnson, both of Charleston, W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren, three siblings, and their families.
The family will hold a memorial service on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 12 noon at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles E. Johnson, Jr. officiating.
