Charles Edward Gibson, Jr. Aka (Bubby) 68, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. He was the son of the late Charles Edward Gibson, Dr. and Johnnie Mae Clark Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents of Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Charles was born on February 28, 1956, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He attended school in Bogalusa, Louisiana then pursued a career in HR in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was a survivor of Hurricane Katrina and he was a resident of Roanoke, Virginia for 19 years where he became a resident at Brandywine Apartments. He worked at Firehouse Subs, then came to Brandon Oaks where he was an employee with them for 11 years then went to work at Lewis Gale Hospital as a dietitian and last he went to work at Our Lady of the Valley where he ended up retiring in 2020.

Charles loved spending time with is friends he loved going out doing anything that was fun, especially the outdoors. Charles was a very caring man, funny and loved helping anyone that needed help. He will be missed by so many people that came into his life, especially his two close friends, Betty Labash and Glen Marshall of Roanoke, Virginia.

He is survived by his best friend of 19 years, KarenSue Barnette aka “Sissy” her daughter, Aleena Lynn Barnette, her two sons, several grandchildren and her sister, April Urrea and her granddaughter, Hannah Hight aka, Hannah Bana all of Roanoke, Virginia.

KarenSue would like to thank Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the tenth floor Hospice Unit for all the special care given to him while he was there.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
