Charles J. Getter, Iii

Charles J. Getter, 75 passed away peacefully on October 6, 2017. The son of the late Charles and Helen Getter. Married to Susan Getter until 2001, a devoted friend to the end. Surviving are his daughter Catherine Helen Selmer, and husband Kenneth, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Emily, Johnathan and Daniel of Forest, VA. Also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Carole and Tony Rustako of Colts Neck, NJ. A native of N.J. Chuck grew up loving and playing baseball. The NY Yankees were his team. He retired from the city of Plainfield Fire Department, dedicated and recognized for saving others. Chuck spent many years mentoring others in achieving sobriety with AA. After suffering a stroke, Chuck moved to Lynchburg to be closer to family. Nothing made him happier than seeing his grandchildren and hearing about their adventures.

A Memorial Service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg VA on October 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., visitation to follow.
