Charles Stephen Christian

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Stephen Christian, 68, who departed from this world on August 12, 2024, in Lynchburg, Virginia at Lynchburg General Hospital. Charles was born on July 18, 1956, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to two dedicated loving parents, the late Archie Christian, Jr. and the late Eula Mae Woodruff Christian.

Charles was a cherished husband, father, and friend to many from childhood to adulthood. His warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him. He will be remembered for his humor, being called “The King”, and the impact he left in this community. Charles was an outstanding basketball and football player. His last place of employment was Cudd Construction, where he was employed for 10+ years.

Charles will be lovingly remembered and so dearly missed by his surviving family members, including his wife, Ruby Eades Lewis Christian of 46 years; daughters, Charisse Christian (Wayne) of Concord, VA., and Kelly Christian (Jay) of Greensboro, NC. He will leave three lovely grandchildren, Amarea (Charisse); Aniyah, Amirah and Tye Bowers (Kelly).

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Archie Christian III and Danny Christian. He has three surviving brothers, Russell Christian (Janice), Lynchburg, Va.; Richard Christian (April), Lynchburg, Va.; and Michael Christian (Faye) of Tennessee.

He has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends that he will leave behind.

There will be a family night on Friday August 16th from 6pm-8pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Charles, aka, “The King” will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Breezewood Dr. in Lynchburg, Va. Pastor Carl Luck will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery on Lakeside Dr. in Lynchburg, Va. Repass will follow interment back to the funeral home in designated rooms.
