Charles Warren Mace

Charles Warren Mace, 90, of Lynchburg, died on Thursday, February 17, 2011. He was the husband of Grace Stewart Mace. Mr. Mace was born in Mitchell County, NC on December 3, 1920 a son of the late James G. Mace and the late Iley Biddix Mace.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Mace is survived by his sons, Warren L. Mace and wife, Teresa of Lynchburg, Charles Wayne Mace and wife, Leslie of Lexington and Johnnie R. Mace and wife, Wanda Sears of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Jacob W. Mace, Joshua L Mace and wife, Kim, Jesse A Mace and wife, Dana, Ryan D. Mace and wife, Erin, Mindy M. Mace, Jared B. Mace, Dallin Mace, Tyler Stewart Mace, Jordan Walker Mace, Alexandra Maria Mace, Thomas Lee and wife, Dara and Emily Summers and husband, Thomas; thirteen great-grandchildren and a brother, J. D. Mace. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by seven sisters.

Mr. Mace attended Harris High School. He retired after twenty-five years of service at General Electric where he was prototype maker. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held a number of leadership positions over the years, including Branch President of the Amherst area. He was a combat veteran of WWII where he served as a combat engineer and received five Bronze Stars for his service.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Carlyle Shorter officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
