Charlie Thompson Hodnett, 84, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, December 29, 2012.
He was born in Halifax County, Virginia, on December 1, 1928, a son of the late Daniel Lester Hodnett and the late Bessie Hardy Hodnett.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton Hodnett, and Durward Hodnett; and a sister, Avis H. Wilson.
Charlie is survived by two daughters, Nancy H. Smith and husband, Gary of Disputanta, Virginia, Shirley Bridges of Athens, Alabama; three grandchildren, Theresa Morgeson and husband, Steve of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeffrey Smith and wife, Angela of Cape Coral, Florida, Scott Smith and wife, Rebecca of Philadelphia, PA; four great grandchildren, Greyson, Nathan, Michael and Jacob.
He was a member of Clover Bottom Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. He was a loving father, caring neighbor and a smiling friend to all he met. He will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Clover Bottom Baptist Church Cemetery, Nathalie, VA with the Rev. Francisco Muniz officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
