Charlotte Struck Caldera

Charlotte Struck Caldera of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alberto "Al" Caldera.

Mrs. Caldera was born July 29, 1922, in Hamburg, Germany and lived most of her early years in Costa Rica until her marriage to Mr. Caldera. She is the daughter of the late Robert and Erna Struck. She was a devoted housewife and master seamstress, with a superb talent for embroidery, crocheting and knitting. Mrs. Caldera was a dedicated volunteer at Virginia Baptist Hospital since 1962, providing over 45,000 hours of service to the patients and knitting thousands of baby caps for the newborns.

She is survived by her daughter, Irene Caldera, of Paris, France, a son, Robert Caldera, and wife Becky, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, devoted friends Sally and Evelyn, and many others in Lynchburg who helped her through the years.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
