Cheryl Dawn Sligh Ashwell, 69, of Lynchburg, died Monday, March 25, 2019. She was the wife of Howard Ashwell for 51 years.
She was born September 27, 1949, in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late James Sligh and the late Roberta Sligh.
She graduated from E.C. Glass in 1967 and attended Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church where she and Howard were married. Cheryl was a homemaker that adored children; while raising her own, she was a caregiver for other children.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Sean Ashwell, Scott Ashwell, Jaime Ashwell Cline (Nyal); a grandson, Max Cline; a brother G.T. Sligh (Cheryl); a sister Brenda Crawford (Kenneth); two sisters-in-law, Mary Dodgion (Ted) and Charlene Blondino (Alan); as well as a host of nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in Tharp Funeral Home Chapel, Lynchburg. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
