Chima Henry Obi, 53, of Madison Heights died Monday September 1, 2014. He was the devoted husband of Mary Jane Obi.
Chima was born in Nigeria on December 1, 1960, a son of the late Augustine E. Obi and Jessey Oduonye Obi who resides in Nigeria. Chima worked at C.R. Hudgins for over 27 years as a production manager, where he was treated as a family member. He was also active in his community and enjoyed playing and coaching soccer. He also loved cooking, golfing, tennis, and was just a naturally gifted athlete.
In addition to his wife and mother he was survived by a son, Hendrix Obi of Madison Heights; two daughters: Jennifer Obi of Washington D.C. and Ishola Obi of Madison Heights; three step-daughters: Mary Ann Matthews, Courtney and Brittany Banks, his siblings: brother Sunday Obi and his wife, Stephanie, sister Mary Madu, brother Ike Obi and wife, Sandra, brother Friday Obi and wife Lynda, brother Kanayo Obi, and sister Obioma Alagor and husband, Chima, and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews in Nigeria and the USA.
A funeral for Chima will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 5, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel Lynchburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 1:30p.m.
