Christine Bagby Dugger

Christine Bagby Dugger, 90, of Lynchburg passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. She was the wife of the late Ernest M. Dugger Sr.

Mrs. Dugger was born on May 13, 1921, in Appomattox, a daughter of the late Samuel Pleasant Bagby and the late Annie Pearl Lee Bagby.

Christine was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and had been the receptionist for Holy Cross Catholic Church and Dr. Frank Hobbs before her retirement. She was a charter member of The Lynchburg Chapter of the American Business Woman\"™s Association. Although career was important, her greatest accomplishment was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. When asked what she would like her family to remember, she answered, \"keep your family close, and love each other, that is what is important.\" Christine was a devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She was a survivor and was very resourceful. Christine was extremely intelligent and once she put her mind to something, she could not be stopped. After her children were grown, she enjoyed travels with her sister Evelyn and her dear friend Mabel Patterson. After Christine\"™s health made it impossible to travel, she continued her travels through her love of reading from her living room chair. She was our family historian who kept detailed journals about family and her daily life. She loved to share stories with everyone and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Joseph P. Dugger and grandson, David Dugger, daughter-in-law, Kay Su Hua Chen Dugger, three brothers, Nowlin S. Bagby, Robert H. Bagby and Jerry L. Bagby, four sisters; Lucile Daniels, Doris Jennings, Kathleen Carwile and Evelyn Ramsey.

She is survived by her children: Ernest M. Dugger Jr. and wife Patti of Lynchburg, Aubrey D. Dugger and wife Gerri of Hampton, Robert A. Dugger and wife Rachel of North Bay Village, FL, Paul V. Dugger of Lynchburg, Ronald F. Dugger of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, William F. Dugger (Billy) of Big Island, Dr. Patricia Ann D. Chappell of Memphis, TN, Catherine E. Dugger of Lynchburg and Mary Cecelia D. Pillow and husband Joseph of Bedford; 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren , 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother; Eugene C. Bagby of Rockingham, NC and a sister Joyce Sherman and husband Ralph of Lynchburg, two daughter-in-laws; Nan Dugger of Lynchburg and Irma Arroyo of Venice, FL.

The family will receive friends from 6:30- 8:30PM on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg and again from 2:00-3:00PM Sunday, April 15, 2012, at ST. Thomas More Catholic Church.
