Christine Elliott Burnette “39 and holding” of Lynchburg gained her angel wings Sunday, December 5, 2021. Christine was born September 16th in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late George Robert Elliott and Pearl Virginia Lerner Elliott.

She was with the love of her life, Edward “Eddie” Lee Burnette, for over 67 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Timothy “Tim” Burnette of Lynchburg, her daughter Tamara Witt of Lynchburg, two grandchildren; Kristin Surber (Jonathan – who she loved like her own) of Lynchburg, and Katie Hass (Christopher -who she loved like her own) of Lynchburg, five great-grandchildren; Scarlett Surber and Syrus Surber, Layton Hass, Lakely Hass and Luca Hass, and her sister Ruby Lloyd of Houtzdale, PA.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Elliott, George Elliott, Evelyn Tucker, and Shirley Carter.

She was the most beautiful soul inside and out. A devoted homemaker, who was always loving, kind, patient, and nurturing. She cared for her entire family deeply, always putting others before herself. God will now keep our most precious Wife, Mom, and Nanny in Heaven until we meet again. Christine was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2021, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

A graveside service celebrating Christine’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest with Monsignor Michael McCarron officiating.
