Clara Huffman Lowe

Clara Huffman Lowe, 78, of Lynchburg, died on Saturday, August 31, 2013. She was the wife of the late Gilbert Jackson Lowe, Jr. Clara was born on March 8, 1935 in Amherst County. She was a daughter of the late Rosa Wright Huffman and the late Nelson A. Huffman.

Clara was the matriarch of her family and the glue that bound the family together. She will be missed by all those that knew and loved her. Clara is survived by two daughters, Wanda Luna and husband, Orlando of Forest, and Vickie Chestnut and friend, Ricky Paxton of Lynchburg, a granddaughter Alexa Luna of Forest and a step-granddaughter Lindsey McKinney and her son, Santos of Lynchburg, four nephews, Dale Tyree, Roger Tyree and wife, Gloria, Clinton Moorefield and James Moorefield; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many close and devoted friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Clara was predeceased by two sisters, Edith Padgett and Viola Raynor and one brother, Leslie Huffman.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Don Webb officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. A private interment will be held at Virginia Memorial Park.
