Clara “Lea” Dempsey died on June 27th 2019 after a struggle with cancer. She was 90 years old.
She was born in Covington Kentucky in 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha Benedict.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, her brothers Quinton, Clarence “Junior”, and Irvin, her sisters Bessie and Helen and her son Shaw.
She is survived by 8 children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, as well as many sons and daughters in-law and other family and friends. She loved them all!
She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, a teacher in Lynchburg City Schools and the business administrator of the family business (Mechanical Equipment Company).
She was a long time member of the Sunset Garden Club. She loved playing cards, reading, crossword puzzles and sudoku, but mostly she loved being with family and friends.
Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
