Claradene Otis Wood Toms

Claradene Otis Wood Toms, 103, of Bedford died Thursday, November 20, 2014. She was the wife of the late Oliver Arrington Toms. She is also preceded in death by two daughters, Yvonne E. Thomas and Shirley Toms Dubuque; and one grandson, Steve Dubuque.
Born February 28, 1911, Clara was the daughter of the late Frank Edward Wood and Mary Emma Vaughn Wood. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Clara is survived by her sons, Carlton (Rachel) Toms, Bennie (Ginny) Toms, Daniel (Vickie) Toms; daughter, Barbara Foster; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Suck Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. William Clark and the Rev. Bob Sowder officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM, today, November 23, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Carlton and Rachel Toms.
In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to Salem United Methodist Church, 3717 Forbes Mill Road, Bedford, VA 24523.
