On June 12, 2024, Clarence Odell “Speedy” Sigmon, age 90, departed on his final journey. He was born on February 12, 1932, in Dry Fork, VA, the son of William Odell Sigmon and Mary Lee Hickman Sigmon Milton. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, James Oscar Milton; and a brother, Curtis and two sisters Lucille and Barbara. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 71 years, Emelie Rae Craig Sigmon, four children, Kay, Pam, Melanie and Chris: a brother, Howard D. Milton (Patricia), 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Clarence was a member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Bedford. Speedy was an over-the-road trucker for Sam Moore Furniture Company for many years and loved to speak of his travels. After leaving Sam Moore, his love for travel didn’t wane. He and his wife enjoyed more adventures. They traveled to Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and often reminisced about a trip to Canada and New England with his sister-in-law Sue and her husband, Alex. Speedy was a member of the Bedford CB club in the 70’s and went by “Falcon”. He also loved Ham Radio.
Clarence was very talented in many areas. He was a jack of all trades and mastered them all from plumbing, electrical, building, mechanics. He could do it all and was self-taught.

Clarence joined the Navy at the age of 16. He is a Korean War Veteran and often spoke proudly of his service as a medic for the Marine Corp. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National D-Day Memorial in Clarence’s name.
A Funeral Service and celebration of Clarence’s life will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
