Clarence “Chuck” Winslow Ingalls, 82, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Ingalls for 64 years, who survives him.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Homer E. Ingalls and Nellie Russell Ingalls; his sister, Ruth; and three brothers, Homer, Harry, and Joseph.
Clarence was born in New Hampshire. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Clarence was a long-time member of Heritage Baptist Church. He was a former devoted deacon and youth Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Amherst County. Clarence was a Lieutenant Deputy and also the Chief Jailor in Amherst County, and also worked as a retail manager.
Amongst his many survivors are his five daughters, Doreen Cantwell of Lynchburg, Cathi White (Doug) of Waldorf, Md., Tracy Packee (Bill) of Anchorage, Alaska, Kellie Arrington (Larry) of Amherst, Va., and Susan Campbell (fiance Lester) of Virgilina, Va.; his son, Kenneth Ingalls of Madison Heights; thirteen grandchildren, Donnie, Justin, and Phillip (Stephanie) Cantwell, Sara (Greg) Wiltison, Jared (Lashea) Thornburg, Jordin (Dana) Thornburg, Ray (April) Arrington, Clinton Arrington, Bethany (Jamie) Coltrain, Landon Campbell (David), Logan (Brittany) Campbell, Layton Campbell, and Lincoln Campbell; six great-grandchildren, Maverick, Skyler, Wyatt, Addyson, Justus and Pierce; four step-grandchildren, Kennedy, Megan, Andrew, and Sarah; and five sisters, Marge, Eunice, Nellie, Lucille and Geneva.
A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Amherst on Monday, November 9, 2015, at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
