Claude S. \”Œjack\” White
Claude S. \"Jack\" White, 86, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, March 25, 2010. He was the husband of the late Cordelia Adams White.
Mr. White was born Saturday, January 26, 1924 in Lynchburg, VA, a son of the late Algernon C. White, Sr. and the late Nell Coffey White. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church. He was retired from Vaughan Chevrolet and Cadillac where he was a salesman.
He is survived by his children, C. Stanley White, Jr. and his wife, Sue of Lima, OH, W. Duval White and wife Sharon, of Midlothian, Robert A. \"Bob\" White and his wife, Debbie of Forest, and Douglas H. White and wife Linda, of Lynchburg; his grandchildren, Brandi Smith, Ashley Stoner and husband, Jeffrey, Adam White and fiancée, Christina Martinez de Andino, Rob White, Bethann White, Tommy Hunt, Chris Hunt and fiancée, Kati Thurston, Brandon White and friend, Kristi Tweedy, and Cameron White and fiancée, Brittany Evans; his great grandchild, Kelsie White; and his special friend, Carolyn Martin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation for the wonderful care they provided Jack during his seven year stay there.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, A. C. White, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010 in Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Phillip Waltz and the Rev. Janet Hawkins officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #16.
