Claudia Horton Gillispie

Claudia Horton Gillispie, 89, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, May 12, 2011.  She was the wife of the late Donald Lee Gillispie.

 Claudia was born February 5, 1922, in Amherst County, VA  a daughter of the late Arthur Horton and Eva Crouch Horton.  She was retired from Lynchburg General Hospital where she was License Practical Nurse and a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church.

 She is survived by her children:  Mike Gillispie and his wife, Margaret of Huddleston, VA,  Donald Lee Gillispie, Jr. of Eagle, ID.,  Joyce Rumburg, Amherst, VA and two sisters, Annie Mae Gillispie and her husband, Buddy of Lynchburg, VA and Janice Herrema of Kalamazoo, MI

 In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

 The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive.  A celebration of Claudia's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Dr. Philip M. Waltz officiating.  Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
