Clettie Powers Stevens

Clettie Evelyn Powers Stevens, 84, of Thaxton, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Oakwood Manor Health & Rehab. Born on August 31, 1928, a daughter of the late Allen Herbert Powers and Ellie Bernice Smith Powers. In addition to her parents Clettie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jessie Woodrow Stevens.

Clettie loved Bluegrass Music, the outdoors, sewing and working puzzles. She also loved mountains especially the Peaks of Otter, cookouts and spending time with her family and friends. She fought an ongoing war against her squirrels with her bb gun. She worked for over 20 years at the Bedford Dress Factory. She retired from Carriage Hill Retirement Home after 8 years of service. 

She is survived by her 8 children, Jessie W. Stevens and his wife, Lynn, Kenneth W. Stevens and his wife, Theresa, Michael R. Stevens, Jackie L. Stevens and his wife, Lisa, Gene C. Stevens, Mark E. Stevens and his wife, Glenda, Daniel W. Stevens and Debbie S. Layne and her husband, Thomas; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Drennon Powers and one sister, Dorothy Powers Dowdy.

A celebration of Clettie\"™s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday January 18, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Chapel. With Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating.
