Clyde Wayne Howard, 63, of Lynchburg died Monday, January 11, 2010. Born July 22, 1946, he was a son of the late Clyde Malcolm and Essie Cash Howard.
Survivors include a brother, William Douglas (W.D.) Howard and his wife, Faith of Madison Heights; a nephew, Dustin Lee (Dusty) Howard of Bedford; an aunt, Thelma Howard Franklin of Lynchburg, many cousins, and lots of friends.
Wayne accepted the Lord as a child and was baptized at Boonsboro United Methodist Church. He attended worship services at Medical Care Center, from August through December 2009.
He was kind and gentle, seeing with his heart, knowing that the essential things in life are invisible to the eye. Wayne made friends easily, probably because he never complained, was always thankful, and had true humility.
He was a faithful and loving son who lived with his parents and helped his mother care for his father throughout a long illness until his death in December 1989. He continued to live with his mother and help her until her death in November 1993. God closed a door in Wayne\"™s life but He opened a window by providing other kind and loving helpers for him.
Wayne loved sports, especially baseball and football. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He faithfully rooted for both teams from early childhood.
Wayne enjoyed cable TV, watching religious programs, classic western movies and reruns of earlier special shows. He also enjoyed listening to country music on WYYD and riding his little red Honda scooter around Lynchburg as long as he was able.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Medical Care Center and Hospice of the Hills for the tender loving care given to Wayne since late August 2009. Each one of you made him feel special and loved. The family also wishes to thank Boonsboro United Methodist Church for the support given Wayne over the years.
Wayne will be sorely missed by all who know him, but we rejoice with him that his earthly journey is over and he is now at home in Heaven.
