Constance Eckert

January 24, 1935 — January 6, 2018

Constance “Connie” Eckert, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. She was the wife of the late John “Jack” Parsons Eckert.

Connie was born on January 24, 1935 in Barberton, Ohio, to the late Dan C. Incorvati and the late Elvira Cantelmi Incorvati.

She worked for American Airlines as a young adult. She married Jack on September 8, 1956. They raised their family in Lynchburg, where Connie worked at Bedford Hills Elementary School. Because of Jack’s job with B & W, Connie and Jack traveled often, and they favorited Duck, N.C., Hilton Head, S.C., and Wintergreen, Va. They enjoyed living in New Orleans, La., for three years where Jack served as president of McDermott. Connie enjoyed playing bridge and staying connected with her friends, family, and especially her grandchildren. She had a special gift for eloquent correspondence through greeting cards and hand-written letters to loved ones. She truly appreciated the years she resided at Westminster Canterbury and was involved in many activities there.

Connie is survived by two daughters, Linda Furry and her husband, Joe, of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, and Laura McVay of Lynchburg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel Incorvati and David Incorvati, both of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Billie Incorvati of Ohio and Pat Sheehan and her husband, Dick, of Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Along with her parents and husband, Connie was preceded in death by her son, Bruce E. Eckert, and her brother, Lou Incorvati.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Connie’s Life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Lynchburg, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Furry officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Westminster Canterbury and the Senior Independence Hospice Care for the excellent service they rendered.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Canterbury, 501 VES Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24503.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
