Cornelia “Connie” Jennings

Cornelia \"Connie\" Brent Jennings, 70, of Lynchburg, died on Thursday, March 24, 2011. She was the wife of Linwood H. Jennings. Connie was born in Washington D. C. on March 26, 1940 a daughter of the late Fred W. Brent and the late Eunice Dowdy Gilpin.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Dawn Edwards and husband, Morry Edwards, Ph. D.; her son, Steve Jennings and wife, Peggy; her grandchildren, Ryan Lindsey, Micah Edwards, Jessica Eagly and husband, Jason, Rebecca Ham and husband, Aaron, Melissa Houldsworth and husband, A. J., Mark Uminn and wife, Wendy, all of Michigan, and William Uminn and wife, Erin of Lynchburg; her great-grandchildren, Marky, Mallory, Alicia, Nick and Mason, all of Michigan and Elise and Irelyn both of Lynchburg; her sister, Carole Jones of Dry Fork; and her special friends Gerry Watson and Terry Mendoza.

Connie graduated from New Albany High School in New Albany, Indiana and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She was a Hospice Volunteer and trainer in Lynchburg for many years. Connie was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Forest. She always enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working with Vacation Bible School. Writing poetry was one of her favorite hobbies.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:30 p.m. today, Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. John Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
