Crispulo Wayne “Cruz” Mayfield, 53, took his rest peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on February 17, 1970 to Gary Wayne Mayfield and Nina Hilario Brown, and spouse of 28 years to Brigette Eileen Mayfield.
He was a husband, father, papaw, handyman and so much more. He was an employee of Piedmont Floor Show Carpet One, up until his battle with cancer became more aggressive. His customers fell in love with his attentiveness and eagerness to make their visions a reality. He was the best tile guy in this area! Aside from working, his favorite thing to do was watch his boys swim/dive, ride on the race track at Birch Creek, teach his grandchildren how to swim and spend time with his family. He was also a volunteer swim coach at Brookville High School.
He was the kind of person that would encourage everyone else, even while facing his own battles. He faced cancer head on and fought it full force until he no longer could. To know him was to truly love him. He was a people person and never met a stranger. He went above and beyond to make sure others were happy and was the hardest worker you could ever meet. If you ever needed anything done, he was the one to call.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Mayfield. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Ethan and Andrew Mayfield. Daughters, Padishia (Darius) Logan, Kayla (Eric) Pastors. Grandchildren, Savannah, Judah and Eli and a host of uncles.
