Curtis Lee Brumfield, 58, our beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015.
He was born in Lynchburg, Va. on March 27, 1957. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Rosalie Brumfield.
Curtis retired in the late 90’s from the Air Force after serving for 25 years. He then moved back to Lynchburg where he began working as a dispatcher at Lynchburg Emergency Communications (LynCom). After a short time, he was promoted to Personnel and Training Supervisor. Curtis had great admiration for his co-workers and cherished his role both at work and in the community. Retiring after 13 years, he still spoke very proudly of LynCom and his friends there.
He is survived by his three children, Benjamin Brumfield and his wife, Allie, of Austin, Texas, Michael Brumfield of Lynchburg, and Aaron Brumfield-Martin of Lynchburg; his loving sister, Carol Brumfield Baker and her husband, Carroll, of Appomattox, Va.; and his grandchildren, who loved their Poppy, Emylee and Tristan Tapp, and Oliver Brumfield.
A memorial service to honor Curtis will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Dodson officiating. Family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Lynchburg Humane Society or American Legion Post #16.
