Curtis Wayne Carwile

Curtis Wayne Carwile, 64, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, January 15, 2011.  He was the husband of Martha Steele Carwile.

Curtis was born Wednesday, November 13, 1946, in Lynchburg, the son of Frances Goff Carwile of Lynchburg and the late Curtis Norwood Carwile.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Wilson Carwile.  He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam.  He was retired from Ericsson where he worked as a Quality Control Engineer.  He was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Hall, Rustburg, Regina Slider, Long Island, NY, and Christey Carwile, Black Mountain, NC; his stepchildren, Jennifer Kress and husband, John, Buckingham, Robert Gunter and Desiray, Appomattox, and Katherine Walker, Manassas; his grandchildren, Jeremy Perdue, Miranda Perdue, Lauren Slider, Nourina Carwile, Alexis Love and Christian Love; his brother, Warren Carwile and wife, Betty, Lynchburg; his sisters Brenda Huffman and husband, Dale, Lynchburg, and Cheryl Padgett and husband, Charlie, Rustburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 \"" 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  A celebration of Curtis's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 21, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian A. Beagle officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 16.
