Cynthia Chittum Hankins, 77, of Bedford, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bedford County on March 22, 1933, a daughter of the late Luther Olen Chittum and Florence Howell Chittum.
Cynthia was a lifetime member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Bedford Weaving Mill with 33 years of service. She loved her family, church, and work. She never tired of being around people whether it was on a beach trip or local auctions. She loved to root for her favorite NASCAR driver, #24, Jeff Gordon.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, W. Kenneth Hankins; two daughters, Kathie Moorman (Jimmy) of Goodview and Judy Hankins of Bedford; a sister, Janette Markham of Vinton.
A Celebration of Cynthia\"™s life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Andy Rice and Burrell Baker officiating. Burial will be private.
