Daisy A. Rice, 75, of Big Island, died Monday, December 1, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 20, 1939 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late George Edward Whorley and Pernie Bell Markham Whorley.
Daisy was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She loved traveling especially to the Smokey Mountains. Daisy loved her family dearly.
In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Daniel Rice, Sr.; and three siblings, Jasper Whorley, Arthur Whorley and Florence W. Campbell. She is survived by a son, Ricky Kidd; two grandchildren, Amanda Kidd and Tiffany Kidd; three great-grandchildren, Jace Henson, Ariana Mitchell and Max Leidich; a sister, Mary Whorley; a sister-in-law, Audrey Whorley; special friends, Rachel Goff and Stacy Rogers; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Daisy’s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Friday, December 5, 2014, at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford and all other times at Daisy’s residence.
