Daniel Harb Rank, 28, of Goode, VA, died Saturday, August 17, 2013.
Born Monday, September 13, 1984 in Richmond, VA, Daniel was the son of Dr. Harb L. Rank and Mary Beth Wallenhorst Rank and the beloved brother of Jennifer Rank.
Daniel was a kind, generous, and thoughtful young man, who enjoyed working with his father at Wiggington Road Family Practice as an EMT. He earned a Black Belt in Ishin-Ryu Karate and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army as an Army Medic. Daniel also loved spending time in the outdoors with nature.
In addition to his parents and sister, Daniel is survived by maternal grandparents James Wallenhorst and Joan Ford, paternal grandparents Jarvis and Bernice Rank; four aunts: Lee, Laura, Therese, and Victoria; four uncles: Mark, Fred, Kurt, and David; three cousins: Megan, Zach, and Jake; special friend Sasha, and his dog, Lady.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael McCarron officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Free Clinic of Central Virginia, 1016 Main Street, Lynchburg, VA, 24504, which is where Daniel once volunteered.
