Daniel James Burns
Daniel James Burns, 59, of Amherst died Wednesday August 2, 2011. He was the loving husband of Cindy (Judd) Burns for 33 years.
Daniel was born December 17, 1951 in Syracuse, NY a son of the late Edward John Burns and Anna Kleist Burns. Daniel honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and also the U.S. Army Reserves. He was retired from the Onondaga County Sheriff\"™s office in New York. He was working locally as an Amherst County School Bus driver and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Amherst.
In addition to his wife he is survived by six sons: Nick and wife Jennie of VA Beach; Sean of Manlius, NY; Ryan of Liverpool, NY; Kyle of Amherst; Patrick of Fort Carson, CO; and Connor of Amherst; two brothers: Edward Burns of Florida and Nick Burns of Syracuse, NY; four sisters: Anne Foster of Syracuse, NY; Mary Burns of Buffalo, NY; Sue Sheley and Kathy McBride both of Syracuse, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday August 5, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Daniel at 12:00 noon Saturday August 6, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Amherst with Fr. Daniel E. Kelly as celebrant.
