Danny “Gap” Marshall of 394 Brookneal Highway, Rustburg, VA departed this life October 9, 2021, at Lynchburg General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born March 31, 1954, to the late Edward “Sonny” Marshall and the late Celestine Charlton Marshall in Lynchburg, Va.
Danny is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Jannie Clark Wilson and father-in-law, James Clark; seven uncles, Robert, Joseph, Ernest, Henry, George, Thomas, and William; five aunts, Beatrice, Rosa, Ethel, Elizabeth, and Jackie; and also, his #1 riding partner, “Bear” (his chihuahua).
Gap graduated from Rustburg High School in 1972. He joined First St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. He was employed by Sentry Equipment Erectors for 30 plus years until his retirement in 2014. He was a former member of Central Virginia Vans Unlimited.
Gap loved his family with all his heart and the family functions at the pool. He was always smiling and loved to have a good time. He loved working on cars and drag racing.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 45 years, Janice Marshall of the residence, two sons, Cedric (Tammy) Marshall of Rustburg, Va and Timothy (Angela) Marshall of Lynchburg, VA.; two brothers, Edward (Lennell) Marshall of Lynchburg, VA and Armstead “Rock” Marshall of Forest, VA ; One devoted sister, Patricia (Charles) Jones of Rustburg, VA; six grandchildren, Darren Cook, Tyreik Marshall Kendrix Marshall, Noah Marshall, Brittany Marshall, and Tiffany Marshall; six great-grandchildren, Hope Marshall, Grace Marshall, Faith Marshall, Aaliyah Marshall, Khloe Moore, and Max Marshall; mother-in-law, Doris Clark of Rustburg, VA; two brothers-in-law, Larry Clark and Knohia Wilson of Rustburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Bertha (Steve) Morgan of Concord, VA; one aunt, Lillian Ross of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle, Earl (Ottoway) Marshall of Rindge, New Hampshire; two great aunts, Hattie Charlton and Mabel Charlton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will follow in First Saint Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, 59 Saint Home Place Rustburg, VA 24588.
