Darryl MacArthur Singleton, “Mack,” 70, of Gladys, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015. He was the loving father of Brandy Shenea Singleton and Lee MacArthur Singleton, and “Papa Mack” to one granddaughter, Granger Lee Bradshaw, all of Richmond.
Born February 6, 1945, in Naruna, he was the youngest child of the late James Monroe Singleton and Janie Dunn Singleton. He was a retired employee of AT&T and a Navy Veteran.
Mack was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgie, Paul, James, and Dick Singleton; and three sisters, Janie Marie Short, Elma Holland, and Maude Dowdy.
In addition to his children and granddaughter, he is survived by five sisters, Betsy Burton (Earnie) of Madison Heights, Barbara Davis (James Elmer) of Rustburg, Margaret Vassar (George) of Gladys, Mildred Tuck of Lynchburg, and Eva Owen of Bristol, TN; two sisters-in-law, Zada and Glennie Singleton; former spouse, Marlene Singleton; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg and all other times at his sister’s residence at 226 Laurel Dr. Madison Heights. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 16, 2015 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with Pastor Johnny Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Naruna with military honors performed by American Legion Post #16
