Darryl Lee “Moochie” Wright, of 104 Federal Street, Lynchburg, VA, at the age of 51, entered into eternal rest and gained his heavenly wings on June 16, 2022. He courageously battled an illness with cancer and peacefully passed away at UVA hospital. Darryl was born on March 16, 1971 to the late Gloria Ann Wright and Hugh Alfred “Al” Payne.
In addition to his late mother, he was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia Marie Payne-Richie, Juanita Smithand eight uncles that was like father’s to him: Charles Wright, Allen Wright, Richard Wright, James Wright, Jr., Cleveland Barber, and Jerome Wright, Renny Russel, Sr., Henry Russel.
Darryl was raised in Lynchburg, VA and grew up in one of the Historic seven hills better known as Tinbridge Hill. Growing up in the neighborhood Darryl was always kind and respectful to the youth and the Elderly. He always looked out for others and you very seldomly heard him complain even down to his last day on this earth. Darryl being the 1st born identical twin was always strong mined like his mother whom he had a very close bond with and she provided and had his back on anything and stood by him in all his good and troubling times in life.
In addition to his father, Hugh Alred “Al” Payne (Val), he leaves to cherish his eternal memories, include his daughter, Ariel Shanice Johnson; granddaughter, Avana Star Johnson; identical twin brother, Derrick Lee (Fatts) Wright; sister, Demetrius Lynette Wright; brother, Hugh Harrell; sister, Ashley Payne Ratliff (Elliott); uncles, Abdul Shakir and Hugh (Constance) Wright, Sr.; aunts, Mabel Barber, Jirleen Wright, Phyllis H. Wright; Minister Constance Wright, Louise Johnson, Mildred Smith, and Katherine Oulds; and a special devoted Aunt, Mary Wright; one devoted nephew, Darrian Wright; special cousins, Hugh Wright, Jr., Hugh Wright lll, Charles Wright, Marcus Wright, Renny Russel, Jr., and Derrick Gentry just to name a few; special friends that are just like sisters to him, Sonja Pannell, Deanna Oliver, Anjanette Brown, Shatisha Thomas, and Jasmine Patel; other special friends that are just like brothers to him, Jonathan Martin, and Quinton Haythe just to name a few; and a host of other loving family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at The Tharp Funeral Home Chapel Lynchburg.
