David E. Goode, 94, was born February 12, 1918 in Lynchburg, the son of the late David Ethelbert Goode (Thelbert) and Lillie Minnick Goode. He died peacefully, July 1, 2012 while at the Carrington. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Scott Goode, a daughter Susan Goode Ohmart and her husband Charles Ohmart, and sons David Edward Goode and his wife Deborah Goode, and John Scott Goode and grandchildren Timothy David Ohmart, Jeffrey Scott Ohmart, Jonathan Robert Ohmart, Kirby Carissa Goode, and David Edward Goode, Jr.
David was a life-time member of Euclid Christian Church and a choir member for 80 years, singing for a multitude of weddings and other church activities in Lynchburg and other parts of Virginia. He was the tenor soloist at the World Convention of Christian Churches in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1960.
David was the sales representative for Bob Smart Division of Craddock-Terry Shoe Company and a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was also a sales representative for Consolidated Shoe Company from which he retired in 1980.
David served his country during World War II as Flight Office/Bombardier, a crew member of a B-29 in the Air Corps.
A Celebration of David\"™s Life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday July 5, 2012 at Euclid Christian Church with the Rev. Jack Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at the Carrington for their devoted care and many kindnesses during the last year and a half.
