David Griffin Brown

David Griffin Brown, 73, of Lynchburg died Wednesday June 26, 2013. He was the loving husband of Loretta B. Brown for 53 years.

Dave was born February 20, 1940 in Lynchburg a son of the late Silas D. Brown and the late Eva McLane Brown. Dave graduated from Rustburg High School and then retired from First Colony and Genworth as Vice-President of Data Operations. He was active in his community and coached Concord Little League Football and the Rustburg Dixie Youth Baseball. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and golfing.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son David L. Brown of Rustburg, two daughters: Susan R. Brown and Christa H. Brown both of Lynchburg, two grandchildren: Russell E. Brown and his fiancée Rachel of Rustburg and Elizabeth D. Brown of Lynchburg, his siblings: the Rev. Mike Brown of Madison Heights, Patricia Coleman and husband Lewis of Lynchburg, and Jeffrey K. Brown of Lynchburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday June 28, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A graveside service for Dave will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 29, 2013 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Frank Casper officiating.
