David Jerome Carroll, 90, of Huddleston, died Sunday, August 21, 2016. He was the husband of the late Alice Boyle Carroll.
Born March 31, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles Ward Carroll and Jennie Miller Lee Carroll. David is also preceded in death by his two step-daughters: Becky Marie Nichols and Roberta Parrett.
He is survived by his daughter: Linda Woodbury and husband, Richard; son: Randy Carroll and wife, June; and sister: Virginia Browning.
David was very active his entire life, there was nothing he wouldn’t try. He was a golfer, a skier, he was on the Saunders Vol. Fire Dept., he was also a member of the Saunders Raritan Club. He was a member of Staunton Baptist Church in Huddleston, as well as being an usher with the Roanoke Symphony, and he read to the blind on a radio station out of Roanoke. He feed the homeless. David also volunteered as a tour guide at the Bedford D-day Memorial, and he was an ambassador for the Roanoke Regional Airport. He lived life to the fullest.
A graveside service will be held at Staunton Baptist Church Cemetery in Huddleston on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Donnie Glass officiating.
