After a long illness, David Jennings Widgeon, Jr., 69, of Goode, Virginia went to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Jane Johnson Widgeon for 44 years.

Born December 7, 1944 in Nassawadox, Virginia, he was the son of Annette Custis Widgeon and the late David Jennings Widgeon, Sr. David was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from Limitorque/Flowserve Corporation after 43 years. David enjoyed running his own lawn service for 24 years. He was a long time member of Forest Road United Methodist Church.

Also left to cherish his memory are two sons, David Widgeon and his wife, Angela and their son Benjamin Guy of Christiansburg, other son, Matt Widgeon of Roanoke; two sisters; Patricia and husband, Jimmy, Connie and husband, William all of Painter, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his beloved dog, Rusty.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Forest Road United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Price and Rev. Vernie Barrow officiating. Interment will be in Virginia Memorial Park Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with military honors by American Legion Post #16.

The family will receive friends today at Tharp Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
