David L. Jones, Jr., 49, of Midlothian, died suddenly Saturday, August 25, 2018.
Born Monday, February 17, 1969 in Lynchburg, David was the son of the late Lois Philyaw Jones and David L. Jones, Sr.
In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James Stokes Philyaw and Toie Myers Philyaw; his paternal grandparents Alvin Ray Jones and Almety Taylor Jones.
David is survived by his father, by two sisters: Diane Jones, of Henrico, and Robyn J. Zatkulak and her husband Bryan, of Moseley, a niece, Sydney Zatkulak and a nephew, Zachary Zatkulak; aunts Charlotte Duncan of Lynchburg and Brenda Arnold of Wytheville; cousins Carol Duncan of Lynchburg, Peggy and Tina Moore of Wytheville.
David attended Appomattox County High School and was a carpenter with Eagle Commercial Construction of Richmond. David enjoyed fishing with his Dad, spending time with his dog Max, roller coasters, watching the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR racing. Most of all David loved time with family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday August 31, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A Celebration of David’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family has requested for friends to dress casual in honor of David.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Richmond SPCA at richmondspca.org.
